The appetizers were good, especially the octopus. Unfortunately, the main courses were a letdown. The duck breast was very gamey, the beef fillet was ordered without being asked for doneness and had to be sent back for re-cooking, the risotto was overly salty, and there was sand in the salad. While the staff were polite and sent the dishes back after we raised concerns, cutlery was only changed after the appetizers. After issues with the mains, no further cutlery replacement was provided. We spent $370 for two people but were charged $375. For this price, I expected a much higher standard. In my opinion, there are many other fine-dining restaurants that offer better value and execution. Seafood was acceptable, but the meat dishes are not recommended.
What a fabulous restaurant for date night! Sexy interior, beautifully set table with comfortable chairs to enjoy a fine dining experience. Sublime food - every course! Beautiful presentation, every mouthful a taste sensation - find of the year and we dine out a lot! The wine selection is huge and our servers were personable and friendly. They knew the details of every dish - quite rare these days. We weren’t rushed in any way, the background music was not too loud and the tables well spaced so we couldn’t hear others conversations or feel squeezed in. We will be back every time we have something fun to celebrate! Oh and there is plenty of complimentary parking under the building. A perfect evening! Merci Avalon restaurant❤️
Absolutely outstanding. This has become one of (if not the) best restaurant in Perth. From the start, the undercover parking was appreciated through to the warm welcome at the door. The food was simply amazing. Standout were the mains, with the best lamb rack we have ever had and a Beef Wellington that was perfect. The wine list was extensive but not pretentious and very reasonably priced. Ben, the Maître d’, was excellent - attentive, engaging and knowledgeable without being overbearing. And the live piano and double bass capped off a great evening. We will certainly be back!
Absolutely stunning venue. You sit down here and forget you’re in Perth. You feel like you are in a top level restaurant in the middle or Sydney or New York. Ideal for a fancy occasion, date night or proposal!!! The service was great. The live music adds so much to the experience. In particular the pastry dishes are amazing the spanakopita was truly delightful, the Wellington is big and hearty, would be great as a shared plate with sides and I highly recommend the desserts as well. This is the new cocos.
Hands down, I’d give this place 5 stars. If I could give more, I would. The venue is beautiful, the service is incredibly attentive, and the food… let’s talk about the food. As a chef, I was blown away by the technical perfection of every dish. Of course, that’s what we strive for in our profession, but you can really feel the love and passion behind what they do here. When it comes to flavours and palate, everyone has different preferences, but I can confidently say that every dish was outstanding. They use high-quality ingredients, create interesting contrasts, and deliver complex dishes in a way that still feels comforting and approachable on the plate. I’ll definitely be coming back. Oh… and live music!? Last night was jazz night, and honestly, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Just great. Booked at 6:15
